KTP diode laser

Pigmented lesions

Do those pigmented lesions on your face or décolletage bother you?
They will be gone in a flash with the KTP diode laser, also known as the Diolite!

How it works
Excess pigment in the skin absorbs the light from the laser, causing the pigment cells to be cleared away by the white blood cells.

Applications
The KTP diode laser is ideal for the removal of superficial pigmented lesions, such as café-au-lait spots, melasma (mask of pregnancy) and age spots.

What can you expect?
As a result of the skin-friendly properties of the KTP diode laser, which, for the treatment of pigmented lesions is often fitted with a special tip – the Scanlite scanner –, the only side effects observed after treatment are usually some redness and slight swelling. However, this is entirely dependent on the skin type and these reactions tend to disappear quickly; you can return to your regular business straight away. If you wish, the skin therapist may camouflage your skin with Lycogel following treatment; in that case, no one will ever notice you just underwent treatment.

After treatment
In the first two weeks, the pigment usually has a slightly darker colour and some scabs might appear. After that, the excess pigment is discharged by the body and the eventual result becomes visible. The skin looks more relaxed and homogeneous. In the case of pigmented lesions, it is hard to predict how many treatments a person will need.

Other ways of treating pigmented lesions are microdermabrasion, chemical peels and cryotherapy.
